Workplace Data; Perception and realities

During a well attended event at the Planon office in Nijmegen, both Planon and Leesman delivered a presentation with good and interesting content about the topic: Workplace Data: Perception and Realities. Click below picture to read/download a PDF of the combined presentations.

After that the attendees were invited to participate in a so called "Spaghetti Challenge (a.k.a. Marshmallow Challenge)". Whereby the 6 groups were divided over 6 rooms that had been prepared with different 'booby traps' like: very hot, very cold, way too much CO2, Call center noises, 2-teams in a room (crowded) and one room had all the right comfort.

The attendees were asked to build their spaghetti towers in those rooms and afterwards Leesman conducted a mini-version of their questionnaire and Planon had measured all the physical parameters (temperature, CO2 level, etc) of the rooms.
Based on those measures (of course statistically absolutely not valid) feedback was given to the attendees.

Feedback from a future CRE Professional:

"The event "Workplace Data: perception and realities' attracted my interest because it is in line with the subject of my thesis. For my thesis I explore  to what extent data on environmental conditions can be collected and how this data can contribute to an office environment where people perform better.

During the event the marshmallow test was performed in which we unconsciously, but actually a bit conscious, were influenced by the physical environment. A very interesting test, especially because it once again became clear how the environment affects our performance. Remarkable results between the reality and the perception of a good working environment were uncovered. For instance, an extremely unhealthy working environment (with CO2 values higher than 2,000 ppm) was not detected, while it certainly has an impact on the performance.

This then gave plenty to talk for the next networking event. That was a great opportunity for me to expand my network and meet interesting people for my research. Overall, an interesting day, in both content and network area.

As usual the event was followed by drinks and networking. Below are some pictures taken during the event.

Beste leden,

 15.30 – 16.00 uur Ontvangst

16.30 – 17.00 uur Workplace realities and perception

Dear members,

Nowadays almost anything can be measured and pictured with the use of sensors and clever application of Internet of Things (IoT). The temperature of the workspace, the CO2 level and the occupation percentages. But do we also measure how effective the work environment actually is? And in what ways could this affect your real estate decisions?

Thursday afternoon October 13th. CoreNet Global Benelux Chapter organizes the event ‘Workplace Data; Perception and realities’. During this event Leesman and Planon guide you into the world of Workplace Data; objective data about the performance of the building, data about the perception of users and the practical application of it in your organization's real estate. It has all the marks of becoming an inspiring event. Have a look at the program below:
