Winnaars CoreNet Global Chapter Benelux – Student awards 2014 bekend
Op 30 Januari vond de jaarlijkse uitreiking van deze Awards plaats op de Nieuwjaars receptie van CoreNet Global chapter Benelux. Met deze Award en de bijeenkomst willen CoreNet Global Chapter BeNeLux en Johnson Controls een brug slaan tussen de studenten en de professionals in het vakgebied van Corporate Real Estate, Facility Management and Workplace Innovation.
Dit jaar was de locatie van de Nieuwjaars receptie het nog in aanbouw zijnde aan de Zuidas gelegen spectaculaire kantoor The Edge. Het gebouw is het één na grootste gebouw ter wereld (ruim 40.000 m2) dat ooit een BREEAM-NL ‘Outstanding’ ontwerpcertificaat heeft behaald. The Edge is een project ontwikkelt door OVG Real Estate in opdracht van Deloitte en AKD. Samen met Philips ontwikkelen en installeren Deloitte en OVG in het gebouw The Edge een nieuw intelligent lichtsysteem voor kantoren.
De zes door de jury genomineerden deden een pitch voor een publiek bestaande uit 75 professionals uit de industrie. Zowel eindgebruikers, huisvestingsadviseurs en opleidingsinstituten waren vertegenwoordigd.
Het publiek heeft de volgende drie winnende inzendingen gekozen in de drie categorien voor de Student Award 2014:
- Bachelor studenten: Mandy Wessling, BIM: de verbindende schakel tussen FM en de bouwwereld!
- Master studenten: Tim Schelle & Sjuul Baltussen, IFRS Lease accounting impact on CREM
- Post-Master studenten: Henk Koster, Rendement van Defensie vastgoed
Mandy Wesseling wint de Corenet Benelux Student award 2014 voor bachelor studenten. Mandy heeft in haar eindwerk onderzocht in welke mate Building Information Modeling (BIM) een rol speelt voor Facility Management bij het exploiteren van kantoorgebouwen. BIM is de oplossing die maakt dat alle relevante informatie gedurende het hele bouwproces wordt opgeslagen, gebruikt en beheerd in een digitaal gebouwmodel. Het eindwerk is origineel en innovatief aangezien voor het eerst de wensen van de facility manager en van de bouwkolom samen worden bekeken tijdens de exploitatiefase. Het eindwerk is een aansporing voor organisaties om the “BIMmen” en beschrijft de voordelen voor alle partijen. Uiteindelijk is 1 van de grote winnaars ook de eindgebruiker die kosten zal besparen doordat BIM bijdraagt tot duurzaam beheer en simme investeringen. Het eindwerk is goed opgebouwd en zeer overtuigend geschreven. Mandy geeft duidelijk aan dat dit een moment is van opportuniteiten voor de bouwwereld en Facility management.
Tim Schelle en Juul Baltussen winnen de Corenet Benelux Student award 2014 voor master studenten. In het afstudeeronderzoek worden de lezers mee op reis genomen langs de ontwikkelingen binnen CREM en specifiek op het gebied van IFRS lease accounting. Door dit te plaatsen in de context van de huidige economische tijd, het belang voor bedrijven hun strategieën en besluitvormingsprocessen ten aanzien van eigen organisatie en hun bedrijfsvastgoed te herzien en een nieuwe werkelijkheid die daarmee zal gaan ontstaan, maakt dat dit proefschrift een meer dan duidelijk, relevant en actueel inzicht biedt. Niet een inzicht vanuit één windrichting, maar daadwerkelijk een samenhangend beeld tussen alle mogelijke ontwikkelingen, hun onderlinge relaties en afhankelijkheden alsook gevolgen of eventuele impact die kunnen ontstaan. Het gaat hier over materie waar veel over is gepubliceerd met een grote variëteit aan (verschillen in) inzichten en analyses. Schelle en Baltussen weten op een heldere, grondige en samenhangende wijze ons inzicht te geven in alle reële gevolgen op de impact van IFRS lease accounting met diverse handreikingen zonder praktische toepasbaarheid uit het oog te verliezen.
Henk Koster wint de Corenet Benelux Student award 2014 voor post-master studenten
Rendement van Defensie Vastgoed is een zeer actueel onderwerp binnen de overheid en Rijksvastgoed in het bijzonder. Zijn werk is soms verrassend, straalt verantwoordelijkheid en betrokkenheid uit in combinatie met passie voor het vakgebied. Waardoor het “eigenwijs” is. Een degelijke balans tussen nationale en internationale literatuur. Rendement van kantoorgebouwen wordt gemeten, inzichtelijk gemaakt en gemonitord. Waardevolle indicatoren om vastgoedbeleid te bepalen. Als beloning op het model dat als resultaat voortvloeit uit dit werk volgt implementatie binnen Defensie.
De winnaars gaan naar de jaarlijkse CoreNet Global conferentie in Berlijn in September 2014.

On January 30th. the New Year’s event of CoreNet Global Benelux Chapter will take place at a spectacular location with interesting speakers and interactive determination of the winners of the 2014 Student Awards. We warmly invite you to attend this event.
Theme: „Innovation & Sustainability”
This year the location is the truly spectacular (yet still under construction) office The Edge located at the South-Axe. The building is the second largest building in the world (over 40.000 sq.mtr) to ever obtain a BREEAM-NL ‘Outstanding’ design certificate.
The Edge is a project developed by OVG Real Estate commissioned by Deloitte and AKD. Inside the Edge, Deloitte en OVG develop and install together with Philips, a new intelligent lighting system for offices. You will receive inside information.
Also the determination and announcement of the Student Awards 2014 will take place. Johnson Controls – Global Workplace Solutions is the proud sponsor of this year's Student Awards. This year choosing will be in a new interactive format whereby, following a pre-selecting and vote-advice by a professional jury, all attendees decide the winners in each of the three categories. CoreNet Global chapter Benelux Student Award

With this annual award and ceremony during the CoreNet New Years event, CoreNet Global Benelux Chapter and Johnson Controls - Global Workplace Solutions are keen on bridging the gap between students and professionals in the industry.
What is the Student Award?
This year there are three categories CoreNet Global chapter Benelux Student Awards:
- Student Award for Academic Masters
- Student Award for Postacademics MRE
- Student Award for Bachelors
The winner will have the unique opportunity to network and join the presentations during a 2 day visit at the annual CoreNet Global Summit in Berlin. The prize includes free entry, travel and hotel accommodation. Between 400-500 (senior) professionals from the industry visit this event.
Why is the Award of interest to students?
- It encourages students to submit good quality, innovative, relevant and feasible ideas for current professionals in the industry;
- It is an opportunity for students to be visible in the industry by means of the PR around the Awards, which helps them to kick start their career.
- This is an invitation to professionals in the industry to be made aware of the best student ideas. The award is a motivation for them to share their knowledge and experience with students by offering internships, graduation projects, or be a guest lecturer.
- What can be submitted?
- The submission should focus on a topic that relates to Corporate Real Estate, Facility Management or the Workplace industry in the broadest sense.
The submission:
- A thesis or similar document written in Dutch or English;
- Digital format, including all attachments and a summary of 1-2 A4;
- Name and full contact details of the student;
- A short letter from the supervising teacher (name and contact details) that confirm 1) the submitted document is part of the program, 2) has been assessed in 2013, 3) the grade awarded and 4) a short motivation for competing for the Award.
- As a principle the content of the submission will be made public entirely. By exception the jury can decide whether some level of confidentiality is acceptable.
- Submission is due prior to the 31st of December 2013 at BE-NL-corenet-studentaward@jci.com
What does the assessment process look like?
A Jury of 5 professionals from the industry and the board of CoreNet Benelux will select the two best submissions per category.
During the Student Award Event 2014:
- The students will hold a short presentation of the pre-selected submissions
- The jury will explain the reasons for selection of these submissions
- The audience will vote per category to determine the final winner of the Student Award
The prize will be awarded directly after the voting. Usually there is a representation of the press that will report on this event and CoreNet Global will, together with Johnson Controls, send a Press Release via social media and announce the results on their respective websites.
How do I register as visitor of the Student Award Event 2014?
Participation at the event on January 30th 2014 is free. Participation is possible for students, teachers of programs related to the mentioned expertise fields, for professionals from the industry and CoreNet members. Condition for participation is registration per email at
BE-NL-corenet-studentaward@jci.com, and quoting contact details (company/program, name, address and telephone number). Registration is open until January 24th 2014.
